Claire & Andrew // Killarney, Ireland

Sisters :-)

So when a client mentions the possibility of a destination wedding my heart totally does a little skip!  Travelling to see new places is one of my absolute favourite things, add to that photographing a beautiful wedding and working with the friendliest bunch of people…well…it just doesn’t get much better than that!

When Claire said that she would be taking me to Ireland to photograph her stunning wedding in Kilarney I was beyond excited! Upon a google search,  I could see the scenery was just breath-taking.  I met Claire’s Mum and Auntie at the National Wedding Show at Birmingham NEC and shortly after Claire contacted me with all the plans for her big day.  The family had discovered connections to their family in Kilarney on a trip there, totally by accident, they got talking to someone at the old church near Aghadoe Heights and found out that they were related - it’s funny how things just happen like that sometimes!  Anyway, they were totally blown away by the location, Aghadoe Heights overlooks Lough Lein and The Paps Mountains. Claire and Andrew just knew that it was where they wanted to get married.

The weather was a dream - gorgeous sun all day! If you asked the locals they would tell you that we were super lucky as it rains a lot in Ireland..but then thats why they have such plush greenery everywhere.  Claire got ready in the pent house suit at Aghadoe Heights, which is pretty swish, in fact it also had a claim to fame, Gary Barlow had just stayed there the week before the wedding!  Claire’s dress was exquisite with beautiful intricate detail on the back and shoulders along with crystal drop veil.  The veil helped create one of my favourite photos.  During the evening we went out onto the balcony to take in the views and was surrounded by a dramatic, stormy, inky blue sky.  The breeze took Claire’s veil over head during a little kiss - the result was atmospheric, moody, dramatic and just gorgeous!

The wedding ceremony was held in the Penthouse. Ambermoon played traditional Irish folk music as Claire’s  Dad walked with her down the isle.  The Humanist ceremony was so lovely with candle lighting and heart felt readings.  Claire and Andrew said their vows surrounded by panoramic views of the Ring of Kerry.

After the ceremony we whisked across the road to the viewing point for a few group pics - taking full advantage of the backdrop and wildflower meadow.  After we returned to the balcony terrace where Claire and Andrew’s guest’s were soaking up the sun, having a cheeky Pim’s and generally just having the best time.

The wedding cake looked so pretty with silver drip details and decorated with matching flowers from the bouquet and table decor.  After lovely speeches and drinks on the penthouse balcony Claire and Andrew started the night time celebrations with their first dance to Iris by The Goo Goo Dolls.
