Wendy & David’s Summer Wedding at The Heath House
It was a warm summery night that I first met Wendy and David at St Mary’s and All Saint’s Church in Checkley, Staffordshire. As we wandered around discussing arrangements and ideas we hoped that the weather would be just as gorgeous on the day…and omg! it certainly was! In fact this wedding had the most beautiful natural light to work with from beginning to end (which made me one very happy photographer!).
Directly opposite the church is a little county pub called The Red Lion, David explained that they would be opening the pub especially for the wedding - it was a lovely idea and when I arrived at the church everyone was having a great time catching up with a quick drink before the ceremony. During the wedding ceremony a beam of light came through one of the little church windows and shone directly onto Wendy..no one else..just Wendy! Later on David asked if I’d seen it and we both thought it looked super magical! obviously I had to capture it on camera…weddings are all about those unexpected little moments that make the day unique to each and every couple.
The wedding reception was held at The Heath House which is one of my favourite local venues. Not only is it a stunning building with beautiful interiors and orangery but Sophie and Justin work hard to ensure every detail is perfect on the day. I went for a little wander after the wedding wedding breakfast to capture some natural pics of guests playing lawn games and enjoying the evening entertainment when I noticed that the Sun was setting over a field full of buttercups at the back of the Heath House, it literally looked like a field of gold - we stood in awe of it for a moment before getting a beautiful portrait of the happy couple.
